Ravinia’s Music Discovery Program Brings Third Graders to GT Chicago

Posted in Culture, Diversity, Events

For the last few years, GT Chicago has been a proud sponsor of outdoor music festival Ravinia, and specifically its Music Discovery Program. This program pairs teaching artists with participating Chicago public schools that do not have access to music education. GT Chicago directs its sponsorship dollars to provide the W.H. Seward Communication Arts Academy access to this program. On Tuesday, April 26, the third graders from the Seward Academy came to GT Chicago to perform a mini-concert, where they sang a song called “Hello” that incorporated three different languages and put a modern twist on the blues classic, “Sweet Home Chicago.” After the concert, a group of GT attorneys and staff taught them what we do at GT and performed a mock trial where the third graders served as the jury.  The third graders were very excited to be in a law firm for the first time and to speak with our amazing team members. Some even said that this was the best field trip they had ever been on. For those of us at GT, it was truly rewarding to see where our sponsorships dollars go and how much of a positive impact they make on our communities.
